Foreign. German investigators accuse Poland of sabotaging the Nordstream sabotage investigation two years ago, Politico reports. Among other things, Polish authorities allowed a suspected perpetrator to slip home to Ukraine and refused to hand over video recordings from a navy, according to the German intelligence service BND.

The explosions destroyed three of the four pipelines that supplied gas from Russia to Germany, and responsibility for the attacks has been unclear.

Now suspicions are directed at a Ukrainian diving instructor named Volodymyr Z (sic!), who is believed to have carried out the act together with five other Ukrainians.

According to German authorities, Z. fled to Ukraine before he could be arrested.

German investigators have expressed dissatisfaction with Poland's failure to act on European arrest and search warrants which was issued against Z. in June.

The charges also include that Poland allegedly withheld important evidence, such as video recordings from a navy.

August Hanning, former head of the German intelligence service BND, claims that the Polish government deliberately helped Z. to escape in order to hide the country's possible involvement in the attacks.

Polish authorities, however, reject the accusations and say they are baseless. Jacek Siewiera, head of Poland's National Security Agency, instead accuses some former pro-Russian officials of spreading disinformation.

He stresses that Poland is investigating all leads, including the possibility that Russia was behind the attack.
