Domestic. The cultural board in Malmö decided today not to give any grants to the Muslim study association Ibn Rushd. The decision is welcomed by the Sweden Democrats.

– Very good decision. We Sweden Democrats have always questioned Ibn Rushd, so it was a new experience for us today that the other parties in the committee also said no. The limit has obviously been reached even for them, says Michael Hård af Segerstad (SD), member of the cultural committee in Malmö.

In December last year, the Norwegian Board of Education presented an audit which showed that the mainly tax-financed Ibn Rushd used study material for, among other things, children's groups where, for example, child abuse, a critical attitude towards homosexuality and stoning are advocated.

Region Skåne appointed its own investigation which it also demonstrated “anti-democratic” study material at Ibn Rushd, and also Malmö city's cultural administration has now presented its review which shows the same thing.

– Ibn Rushd only blames himself. Among other things, they believe that those who did the reviews are not theologians and that they therefore cannot or should not take a position on religious material with reference to religious freedom, says Michael Hård af Segerstad (SD) in a press release.

The contribution amount from the Malmö cultural committee which is now not distributed to Ibn Rushd is a total of just over 1 million kroner – almost 1 million for the operations in 2024 and 150,000 kroner for the project “Female cultural workers and artists on the outskirts of the city”.

– These the things advocated in Ibn Rushd's study material for children and young people are very unpleasant. We are therefore talking about, among other things, child marriage, child abuse, mutilations, stonings, anti-Semitism, hatred of homosexuals. We Sweden Democrats are happy that the administration did a good investigation and that the other parties in the committee voted for stopping contributions to Ibn Rushd for once. Obviously, the limit was finally reached even for them, says Michael Hård af Segerstad.
