Foreign. A man with Arab appearance is being hunted after a knife attack against a multicultural festival in Solingen, Germany, where three people died and eight were injured, reports German Bild.

A large knife attack shook Solingen on Friday evening when a man armed with a knife randomly attacked festival-goers at the city festival “Festival of Diversity”.

Bild writes that witnesses tell the newspaper that the man had a typical “Arab appearance”. However, it is something that the police do not intend to confirm, writes Bild.

According to the police in Düsseldorf, three people were killed and eight were injured, five of them seriously, in the attack that took place around 9.40 pm at the Fronhof square in the city center.

Police have deployed extensive resources, including special forces from across North Rhine-Westphalia, to hunt down the perpetrator who is still at large.

A temporary crisis center has been set up, and residents have been urged to stay indoors.

The festival was canceled immediately after the incident.

The mayor of the city of Solingen, Tim Kurzbach, expressed his sadness on social media and emphasized how the festival, which was supposed to be a day of multiculturalism and joy, turned into a tragedy.

The police continue their intensive search for the perpetrator and the murder weapon, while the investigation is ongoing to understand the motive behind Friday's brutal attack.
