Economy. The number of new debt collection claims continues to increase and is now at record high levels, according to the industry association Swedish Debt Collection.

– There could be over ten million cases this year, Swedish debt collection chairman Fredrik Engström tells TT.
From January until July this year, the number of debt collection claims amounted to roughly 5.6 million cases, which is an increase of seven percent compared to the same period last year.
– This is a large increase in relation to how it usually looks out, says Engström.
The Financial Supervisory Authority believes that invoice purchases may be part of the problem, even if they do not have their own statistics to confirm this.
