The announcement comes after the EU court ordered Hungary to pay a fine of the equivalent of two billion kroner and daily fines of around kroner 10 million because the country has not followed the court's decision to improve protection for asylum seekers.

Gergely Gulyas, who is the minister responsible for the prime minister's office, emphasized during a press conference that Hungary wants to avoid paying the large daily fines.

– If Brussels wants to receive migrants, we can help, he continued.
