In May 2023, a 35-year-old man was shot to death in Hagalund in Solna by a then 16-year-old boy. The man died at the scene due to his injuries.

Several witnesses described two people dressed in black, one of whom had a gun and the other person a larger automatic weapon next to the place where the shooting took place.

The now The 17-year-old boy was sentenced to five years and two months in prison for murder and causing bodily harm by the district court in May 2024. The sentence was appealed to the Svea Court of Appeal, which changes the district court's sentence on punishment.

In the court of appeal, the 17-year-old is also sentenced for attempted murder for an event that the perpetrator carried out before the murder in Hagalund. Furthermore, the Court of Appeal rules, like the district court, that the teenager should not be sentenced to closed youth care, taking into account the seriousness of the crimes. After the Court of Appeal took into account the young age of the 17-year-old, the sentence will be ten years in prison.

The prison sentence was reduced by two months to take into account the time the teenager spent in detention with restrictions.
