The number of children under the age of 15 who are suspected of being involved in murder plots has tripled in the past year, according to police chief Carin Götblad at the police's National Operative Department (Noa). She describes the development as “nightmarish” and unprecedented in the Western world.

Carin Götblad, who has long worked against gang crime, expresses concern that children from well-functioning families, previously unknown to the police, are now drawn into violence .
She points out that the work of the police to prevent this is no longer sufficient, despite solid knowledge of societal risks.
The police have increased their presence online, where young people are recruited into gang violence, and have succeeded in preventing around 200 violent crimes in the last year.
