“Lock her up” was a common chant chanted during Donald Trump's 2016 campaign rallies. It was a call to jail Trump's then-opponent Hillary Clinton for the way she had managed a server with sensitive emails.

After Donald Trump chose to run for president again in 2024, he was showered with charges from the opposing side, and now it is rather he who risks ending up in prison.

At the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Hillary Clinton mocked his old enemy for his legal troubles. The crowd then started chanting “Lock him up”.

The 76-year-old didn't immediately react to the chant, but as the chants grew louder, she stood quietly at the podium, smiling and nodding until the crowd calmed down .

The incident occurred after Clinton mocked Trump for falling asleep during a trial in Manhattan earlier this summer. She pointed out that Trump is the first person to run for president with a 34-count criminal record.

Trump was convicted in May of 34 counts of accounting violations related to payments made before the 2016 election. Those payments were made to a luxury prostitute who claims she had an affair with him. Trump is set to be sentenced next month, but legal experts say he is unlikely to face prison time.

Hillary Clinton's speech was met with a standing ovation and applause from the Democratic delegates gathered in Chicago to officially elect Kamala Harris for presidential candidate.
