The arrest took place on request by a foreign authority, which has issued a European arrest warrant against the man.
The 41-year-old man, who is Russian-speaking, has previously been wanted by Russia and is suspected of a terrorist crime committed in a European country. Säpo carried out the raid on Friday after the man was arrested in his absence the day before.
Chamber prosecutor Mats Ljungqvist, who leads the case from the Swedish side, is tight-lipped about the details of the case and has not commented on which country issued the arrest warrant.
The arrested person seems to “fundamentally” have no connections to Sweden, says the prosecutor to TV4. However, the prosecutor does not want to say which country the 41-year-old is a citizen of.
– We know what he did in Sweden, but I cannot go into it, says Mats Ljungqvist to TV4 Nyheterna.
p>The man has now been requested to be detained at the Attunda district court, and a process for his extradition to the country concerned has been initiated. His lawyer, Torben Setterlund, announces that the man denies the crime.
