The suspected cases involve patients who recently traveled to Pakistan from the United Arab Emirates and in whom the virus has now been found, reports Reuters.

The health authorities in Pakistan are now investigating the suspected cases to confirm whether they are monkeypox, the so-called mpox virus. The situation is being closely monitored to prevent a possible spread of the virus in the country.

Last night, the first case of the new variant of monkeypox outside the African continent was reported – in Stockholm.

Preparations to limit infection are now being taken in different parts of the world. China has decided to tighten its border controls to prevent the virus from spreading into the country, reports the Spanish news agency Efe. Extra checks will be carried out on planes, boats and travelers from countries where the infection has been confirmed.
