Foreign. Najah al-Shammari, Iraq's former minister of defense, has been investigated for serious grant crimes in Sweden. But the investigation has now been closed, citing a lack of evidence.

News Today revealed in 2019 that Najah al-Shammari, who was then the minister of defense in Iraq, was at the same time written in Sweden and picked up contributions from the Swedish the state.
The ex-minister was arrested at Arlanda in March, after being wanted and arrested in his absence for almost a year and a half.
The now 57-year-old Iraqi was suspected of crime of contribution, but prosecutor Jens Nilsson now announces that all suspicions have been dismissed.
– In summary, it can be said that it is a lack of evidence that has caused the case to be closed. I don't want to go into any details due to confidentiality, says the prosecutor to TV4 Nyheterna.
Najah Al-Shammari has also previously been the subject of a Swedish investigation regarding war crimes, but that case was also dropped.< /p>
