Foreign. A fire that broke out at the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant in Ukraine on Sunday is now reported to have been extinguished.

Ukraine and Russia have accused each other of being responsible for the fire at the nuclear power plant, which is controlled by Russia.
According to International Atomic Energy Agency the fire at Zaporizhzhya was caused by explosions.
Both Russian and Ukrainian sources state that a cooling tower has been damaged in the fire.
What interest would Russia have in carrying out an attack on a nuclear power plants that they themselves control – which Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi immediately accused the enemy country of doing – is still unclear. According to the responsible Russian governor, the fire broke out in connection with a Ukrainian attack on the nearby town of Enerhodar.
However, the incident does not pose a security risk, and no elevated radiation levels have been registered.
Zaporizjzjas nuclear power plants have been a source of concern since the war began.
