In recent months, around 15 people have been arrested by Danish or Swedish police on suspicion of violent incidents in Denmark. Just last week, several people were arrested in both Denmark and Sweden.

It has already been decided that the Danish police will have staff at the National Operative Department (Noa) in Stockholm. Another collaboration against serious organized crime is now starting.

– We have agreed that a number of Danish police officers will work in Police Region South. They must work together with us in terms of situational images and faster reaction chains in the proactive work, says Stefan Sintéus, head of command in the work against organized crime in Police Region South, on the police's website.

The intensified cooperation also includes that Swedish police officers will be stationed with the Danish police in Copenhagen. Work is currently underway to recruit police officers to be stationed in Denmark. They will be on site shortly, according to the police.

– We have always had a very good cooperation with Denmark, but now we are taking another step and can work more with the proactive perspective and speed, says Stefan Sintéus.

That a closer cooperation is needed has, according to the police, become even more clearly lately. It is about serious organized crime becoming increasingly borderless geographically. Young people who are often unpunished undertake assignments in Sweden's neighboring countries.

– The criminal assignments are often posted on social media. And when a young executor, often vulnerable, takes on an assignment, it often goes very quickly. You can travel from southern Sweden to Copenhagen in half an hour. And we must be able to curb that. Here, we and our Danish colleagues must have a common picture of the situation and be able to act quickly, says Stefan Sintéus.

According to the police, the latest development is not due to Swedish gangs being in conflict with Danish ones. It is about “Swedish” young people accepting criminal assignments from serious criminals in Denmark.
