Sweden and the US are to cooperate on 6G

Domestic. A joint statement on cooperation in 6G development between Sweden and the US was signed on Monday by Cabinet Secretary Jan Knutsson and US Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell in Washington.

The statement expresses a common desire to intensify cooperation between the countries to ensure that 6G technology becomes open and secure and develops in line with “democratic values “.

Research into the development of the sixth generation mobile network (6G) is still in its infancy but is expected to significantly increase speed and capacity, higher reliability, improved data processing, seamless connectivity and reduced latency in future mobile communications.

Sweden is at the forefront of the development and application of wireless technology and the US is described as a central and strategic partner in the field.

– With this joint statement, Sweden and the US show a clear will to increased cooperation between like-minded international partners to ensure that 6G technology becomes open, secure, trusted, inclusive, sustainable and in line with democratic values. Together, we drive technology development forward. I look forward to further strengthening the Swedish-American partnership within 6G, says cabinet secretary Jan Knutsson in a statement.
