In Tamworth on Sunday evening, hundreds of people gathered outside the Holiday Inn Express, which according to the Daily Mail is being used as an asylum accommodation.
Masked people threw firebombs and smashed windows. A burning bush was thrown in through a side entrance while onlookers filmed and shouted slogans such as 'England, England, England'.
Audiences filmed and cheered – and toasted with beer bottles.
When the fire took off a great cheer erupted:

Graffiti reading “Get out England” was scrawled on the hotel's facade. A police officer is suspected of breaking his arm during the riot.
A racist lynch mob has set fire to another Holiday Inn Express hotel housing refugees. They are literally trying to burn alive people who have already fled war, torture and persecution.

Earlier on Sunday, similar scenes erupted in Rotherham where a mob stormed another asylum hotel, also a Holiday Inn Express. The violence resulted in at least ten police officers being injured, one of whom was knocked unconscious. Protesters wore balaclavas and English flags. They threw things at the police and set fire to various objects outside the hotel.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer condemns the riots and promises that those involved will regret their actions. At the same time, the government has announced urgent security measures for mosques.
– We have seen unacceptable scenes in Tamworth and Rotherham. Those responsible will be held accountable, and our thoughts go out to the police officers and civilians affected by these actions, said Deputy Police Chief Lindsey Butterfield.
