On Monday night, an Israeli mob stormed two military facilities and tried to free nine reservists from the Israel Defense Forces, IDF, who are suspected of raping and abusing a Palestinian prisoner.

The man's injuries to what is described as “a sensitive body part” are said to be so severe that he lost the ability to walk.

Videos on social media show the crowd attacking military police at the Sde Teiman military base and prison outside Be'er Sheva in southern Israel.

As Israeli politicians discussed the abuse on Monday, opinions were divided about the appropriateness of such behavior. Hanoch Milwidsky of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party, defended the rape. He was then asked if it is legitimate “to insert a stick into a person's rectum?”

– Yes! shouted Milwidsky in response to his Knesset colleague and continued:

– If it is a Nukhba [Hamas fighter], everything is legitimate! Everything!

According to CBC News, Milwidsky was so excited in his defense of the rape that he screamed and yelled at his critics.

Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir meanwhile defends the captured soldiers in a post on X.

“Hands off the reservists,” he writes.

The IDF is believed to have detained thousands of Palestinians – including women, children and doctors – since October 7, 2023.

The Chief Rabbi of the Israeli Defense Forces, Eyal Krim, has previously said that Jews have the right to rape non-Jewish women in wartime. After being criticized for the comment, however, he claimed that these Jewish rules did not apply in modern times.
