– It is a great pleasure for me as the Minister of Culture to announce that some of the government's top awards are being awarded to two cultural creators who have meant so much to the Swedish cultural offering, as well as Anders Wall who, through his many years of philanthropy, has provided decisive support for young talents in several different fields, says culture minister Parisa Liljestrand (M) in a statement.
During a “summer coffee” on Thursday, the government presented additional gay initiatives, apart from those already started. The government is increasing support for the work of municipalities and regions to “promote the equal rights and opportunities of LGBTQI people”. At the same time, the Holocaust Authority Forum for Living History is tasked with developing knowledge support for public activities on “equal rights and opportunities for LGBTQI people”. The government also presented a new national strategy against HIV, AIDS and some other sexually transmitted infections.
The Illis Quorum Medal was instituted in 1785 and is the oldest government medal. The inscription means “To those whose deeds deserve it”. The medal is used to reward efforts for cultural, scientific and other public benefit purposes. The medal is available in gold and in eighteenth, twelfth, eighth and fifth sizes. It is awarded to an average of eight people per year.
