The “prize” is awarded in connection with Stockholm Pride and is to be given to “a person or a organization that during the past year has done something that negatively affected the life situation or rights of LGBTQI people”.
In this year's justification it says:
“For a long time, but especially in recent years Agnes Wold has actively opposed our community's vital and long-awaited [sic] amendment to the gender identity law that was finally passed this spring.”
RFSL states that Agnes Wold “used her platform to spread both harmful myths and disinformation [sic] at the expense of trans people”.
In a comment to TV4 Nyheterna, Agnes Wold says that RFSL is trying to “silence” her.
She also claims that it was her merit that Ulf Kristersson's gender reassignment law – which was finally hammered out by the Riksdag – was criticized.
– I was the one who drew Sweden's attention to the proposal for a new gender identity law and I criticized it, therefore I must be silenced, says Agnes Wold to TV4.< /p>
