Choudary has long been a prominent figure in radical Islam and has become notorious for his violent preaching.
Researchers have estimated that he was connected to between 25 and 40 percent of terrorist acts in the UK until 2015.
The British court found Choudary guilty of leading the banned extremist network al-Muhajiroun. The organization has been involved in several extremist activities and has had links to terrorism.
An extensive police investigation carried out in cooperation between authorities in the UK, USA and Canada. The investigation revealed Choudary's central role in the network and his significant influence over its members.
Choudary has previously served a prison sentence for his support for the terrorist group IS, but this time the judiciary has taken an even tighter grip on his activities.< /p>
