The District Court states in the judgment that it is beyond reasonable doubt that Christopher Johansson in November 2023 deliberately killed the 94-year-old woman by wrapping plastic film around her head, thus covering her airway and preventing her from being able to breathe.

The murder was filmed and the man spread the clip in a Fortnite chat.

“I love that I filmed it,” the 49-year-old wrote in the chat.

The court therefore sentences the 49-year-old to murder. When she was killed, the woman was a care recipient within the home care service and the 49-year-old was at her home as an employee within this business.

As for the penalty, the district court notes that there are no mitigating circumstances but, on the contrary, several aggravating circumstances. The murdered woman had reached a very old age. She was physically inferior to the 49-year-old and defenseless. The incident took place in the woman's own home, where the 49-year-old was at work with the task of helping the woman. It must have been combined with a strong fear of death and severe suffering for the woman, according to the verdict.

Taking these circumstances into account, the district court considers that the 49-year-old should be sentenced to life imprisonment. He must remain in custody until the verdict becomes final.

Christopher Johansson must also pay damages to the woman's daughters of SEK 110,000 each and reimburse the estate for the funeral costs.

The district court agrees in his judgment.
