The opening was characterized not only by political correctness but also by technical problems and heavy rain. Only the Canadian singer Celine Dion is considered to have managed to put on a memorable performance during the inauguration.

The ceremony, held on a bridge over the Seine River, featured performances by Lady Gaga and 3,000 dancers, acrobats and actors, among others.

One particularly controversial feature was a scene reminiscent of The Last Supper, which upset many Christians.

Tesla owner Elon Musk expressed on X (formerly Twitter) that he thought that the performance was “extremely disrespectful to Christians”.

The opening also featured other bizarre elements, such as a headless Marie Antoinette and a man dressed as the Greek god Dionysus. Several technical errors occurred, including misrepresenting South Korea as North Korea, leading to protests from South Korea.

Despite attempts to create a unique inauguration through an open-air parade along the Seine, many spectators were disappointed and criticized on social media.< /p>

“This is the worst Olympic opening ceremony ever,” wrote one user.

The Olympic opening ceremony is the first to be held outside a stadium and spans a 6 kilometer stretch of The Seine River.
