Several heavyweights within his own party – including ex-president Barack Obama – has called on Biden to drop out of the race for the presidency ahead of the next term.

The odds have increased to 70 percent after Biden's much-maligned performance in the debate against Donald Trump at the end of June, from just 16 percent in October.
