Domestic. Anders Thornberg, former national police chief, will not be prosecuted. He was under investigation for suspicion of causing the death of another since the former police chief Mats Löfving committed suicide in February last year.

According to the prosecutor, there is no longer reason to complete the preliminary investigation. From the investigation material, it is not possible to prove that Anders Thornberg has committed a crime.
Further investigation cannot be assumed to change the state of evidence in a decisive way, according to chief prosecutor Lars Morand.
– That there is a causal connection, but it does not show that Anders Thornberg realized or should have realized that there was a risk that Mats Löfving would take his own life, says the prosecutor to Sveriges Radio.
