Foreign. Donald Trump was hit by a bullet in the ear during an attack on his campaign meeting in Pennsylvania during the night Swedish time. The gunman who was standing 120 to 150 meters away and another person were killed in the shooting, while Trump says he is safe.

The attack on the election rally took place at 00:12 Swedish time.

Donald Trump was in the middle of a speech when he suddenly grabbed one ear and ducked. On the video of the incident, several shots are heard, fired from a nearby roof.

A bloodied Trump then stands up, surrounded by bodyguards, and someone shouts that the shooter has been neutralized. He clenches his fist and shouts “fight” several times.

“I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear,” writes Donald Trump afterwards in a post on Truth Social.

According to the FBI, the shooter has been identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old man living in Pennsylvania. He himself was shot dead by the Secret Service in connection with the crime. According to the Washington Post, he was registered as a Republican, but he donated a small amount of money to an organization tied to the Democrats in 2021. The organization, the Progressive Turnout Project, works to get Democratic voters to go and vote.

A spectator in the audience was also killed and two more people are being treated in hospital with serious injuries. The dead and the two injured are all adult men.

A few hours later, Trump was seen stepping off a plane in New Jersey, seemingly unharmed. He wrote shortly after the incident on his own platform Truth that he is grateful for the security service and the police's quick response during the incident. He also sent his condolences to the families of the dead and the injured.
