Three are requested to be detained for crimes against humanity

Domestic. Three Arabs were requested to be detained today on probable cause suspected of gross violations of international law – crimes allegedly committed in Syria in 2012.

The interventions have taken place after cooperation between Swedish and German prosecutors and police and with the support of the EU's authorities for law enforcement and criminal justice cooperation, Europol and Eurojust.

In addition, several other European countries have assisted with investigative assistance.

– Thanks to good cooperation with Germany, Eurojust and Europol in particular, we have now been able to detain the suspects, said District Attorney Ulrika Bentelius Egelrud, who is the head of the preliminary investigation, in connection with the arrest of the men.

The custody proceedings take place in Solna district court during Friday.
