The police: Calmer in the summer when the immigrants vacation in their home countries

Domestic. In southern Sweden it becomes quieter in the summer when the criminals go on holiday to their home countries, according to the police.

– Some of them , who originate from other countries, go there over the summer. Then we notice a big difference, a greater calm, in our vulnerable areas. Other years, when they remain in Sweden, they become messier.

This is what Mats Karlsson, head of intelligence at the police in the southern region, told TT.

However, this trend deviates from what it looks like in the rest of the country, where the summer holidays contribute to increased problems. Around 40 shootings have taken place since the beginning of June, and nowadays it is often minors who are allowed to do the killing within the gang conflicts.

In other areas, crime is being negatively affected right now by the fact that high-profile criminals have just been released from prison, according to the police.
