When Swedes are asked what less healthy habits they have, 14.9 percent state that they snuff white snuff. The proportion who answer that they snuff brown snus amounts to 13 percent.

The white snus therefore seems to have passed the brown in popularity.

Some results that stand out are that the white snus is especially popular among younger people and among women. The survey shows that 22.2 percent of women between the ages of 18 and 29 state that they regularly sniff white snus. Just over every fifth young woman, that is. The brown snus is considerably less common in the target group, 8.2 percent.

– The white snus has quickly become popular on the market, especially among younger people and among women. Before, it was mainly men who snuffed. Now it is hardly as obvious. In this way, white snus has opened up a previously difficult, if not closed, market for the tobacco industry, says Mårten Lindberg, head of analysis for market and consumption at Infostat, in a press release.
