Energy supplier Eneco will remotely control the solar panels of business customers from July 1. The company can dim or temporarily switch off the solar panels to ensure the stability of the power grid.
The change applies to business customers who have connected more than a hundred panels, Eneco reports. Both existing and new business customers receive a control box for free.
“Many companies contribute to the energy transition by installing solar panels on the roofs of their buildings. This often allows them to meet a large part of their own energy needs. At the same time, these solar panels influence the balance between supply and demand in our electricity grid, partly due to changing weather conditions,” explains Eneco. Customers are not obliged to use the control box. They can indicate to the energy supplier that their solar panels may not be controlled remotely. Business customers retain the 'financial benefits' of the solar panels and receive full compensation for ungenerated power, Eneco emphasizes. They also receive an additional feed-in compensation of a maximum of 1 cent per kWh for all electricity supplied back.
