Ebba Busch's speech was repeatedly interrupted by the activists, who among other things shouted “murderers” and “resign”.
The KD leader took a break from his speech and attacked those who “take the liberty to silence others “.
– Again we have people in a crowd standing and yelling, making it uncomfortable for others who are here to listen to a political speech. Many of you are here listening to a party leader that you fundamentally don't even agree with. But you are here to protect the open, free democratic conversation. So that we can better understand each other over the differences of opinion, she said.
Ebba Busch continued:
– That is what Almedalen means to me. I was raised to listen to each other, even when we disagree. We show respect for each other's concerns, we show respect for where people come from. We listen even in the most difficult of moments. That way we can have a Sweden that sticks together. It applies in Almedalen and it applies in Sweden. It must apply to all of us.
Palestinian activists have previously disturbed Ebba Busch and also Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson when the politicians visited universities.
