The reputation index is produced by Verian, formerly Kantar Sifo, through an annual survey. The index is based on five questions: overall reputation, personal impression, trust, success and quality/service.
The police's performance improves in all five questions. The highest rating is given to trust and personal impression. Next comes overall reputation, quality and success.
The reputation has increased for a number of other agencies since last year. The Coast Guard (70), the Electoral Authority (66) and the Norwegian Accident Commission (62) have the highest reputation. At the bottom are the Migration Agency (-12), Arbetsförmedlingen (-9) and Försäkringskassan (4).
The survey also includes a question about the media. The interviewees were asked to indicate whether they were the most negative or positive things they had read, heard or seen in the media. Here, too, the police have a more positive result. Last year, 38 percent reported that they experienced predominantly positive reporting to the police. This year, this has increased to 54 percent.
