Our homeland, which like the Polish party is usually described by the media as anti-Semitic, tells Euractiv that it is “in the middle of negotiations” with the AFD.
The requirements for establishing a political group is to have at least 23 members from at least seven Member States. Parties that are part of a party group receive more budget support and more say than if they were without a group. If all of the above-mentioned right-wing parties join, you have a total of 32 members from seven member states.
At the same time, the new grouping looks to further divide the right-wing in the European Parliament and represent a third right-wing faction alongside the European Conservatives and Reformists ( ECR) and Identity and Democracy (ID).
In May, the AFD was expelled from Identity and Democracy following statements by one of the party's EU parliamentarians that angered Marine Le Pen in France.
