Minisforum releases GPU docking station for 90 euros

Minisforum has released the DEG1 eGPU Dock. This docking station for external GPUs has an OCuLink port, which should provide better performance than Thunderbolt. The device is available immediately and costs 90 euros.

The open design of the DEG1 ensures that there is room for both small and large video cards. In addition to the PCIe 4.0 slot, space is provided to mount a separately available ATX or SFX power supply. The dock also contains a 24-pin connection for the on signal to the PSU.

The OCuLink connector has a theoretical bandwidth of up to 64Gbps, compared to the 40Gbps of Thunderbolt 4. In addition, Minisforum has a signal amplifying chip built in to enable “a more stable higher speed”, although no details are given. Furthermore, the DEG1 is automatically switched on and off when the connected system is switched on or off.
