According to the latest Eurobarometer survey, a total of 60 percent of EU citizens respond that they are in favor of sending weapons to Ukraine.
It is the same proportion as in the survey that was done six months earlier. In some countries, however, there have been large differences.
In Turkey, support for arms deliveries has plummeted from 63 to 42 percent in six months.
– I have previously argued that there is a risk with how the EU and the US are acting regarding the Gaza war. That many Muslim countries will turn against Europe and criticize us for what they see as double standards – and that support for Ukraine could decrease, says Paul Levin, head of the Institute for Turkish Studies at Stockholm University, to SVT Nyheter.
< p>In Montenegro, the percentage has instead risen by as much as 17 percentage points to 69 percent.
Sweden stands out as the most extreme country in the survey. In addition to the fact that 93 percent of Swedes say they support the arms deliveries, 97 percent say they want to support the Ukrainians humanitarianly and welcome refugees from the war. 95 percent are for sanctions against Russia and the same number for financial support for Ukraine.
