Gigabyte has announced more specifications of its upcoming AI TOP 100E SSD. This SSD, which according to the manufacturer is intended for workstations that train AI models, lasts up to 219 written petabytes, according to the manufacturer.
Gigabyte claims on its website that the 2TB variant of the AI TOP 100E will be guaranteed for five years or 219,000 terabytes written, whichever comes first. With the 1TB variant it is half. The amount of written terabytes, also referred to as TBW, is considerably higher than other NVMe SSDs. For example, Gigabyte's own Aorus Gen4 7000s 2TB has a TBW of 1400 terabytes. With the Samsung 990 Pro 2TB, the warranty is 1200 terabytes.
In a system that is on 24 hours a day, the Gigabyte AI TOP 100E 2TB should be able to process 120 written terabytes of data every day, according to the manufacturer. or sixty times the capacity of the SSD. The five-year warranty period is similar to that of other SSDs.
Gigabyte further equips the AI TOP 100E with a PCIe 4.0 interface, with sequential read and write speeds of up to 7000 and 5900MB/s respectively for the 2TB variant, or up to 7200MB/s and 6500MB/s for the 1TB model. The manufacturer does not share arbitrary speeds. The device also has 1GB or 2GB of Lpddr4 dram cache, depending on the total storage capacity of the SSD. Gigabyte does not report what kind of NAND memory is used. The manufacturer also does not say what the SSD will cost or when exactly it will be released.
Gigabyte's AI TOP series was officially announced during the Computex. This series consists of motherboards, video cards, power supplies and SSDs that are intended for intensive use. According to the manufacturer, the products are mainly intended for workstations that are used for local training of AI models.
