The first-person shooter Histera can immediately be played for free via Steam Early Access. The game is made by StickyLock Games, a game studio from Etten-Leur. Histera is a free-to-play arena shooter with a constantly changing game world.
Histera is set in the distant future and lets players fight against each other in two teams of eight. Each fight takes place in an arena, but that arena changes during the game. This happens via what Histera calls the Glitch, a 'space-time anomaly' that randomly transforms parts of the playing field into landscapes from the present, past and future. At release, three landscapes are available: a prehistoric landscape, a city torn apart by war in the twentieth century and a futuristic metropolis. Each setting has corresponding weapons.
The challenge is therefore to adapt the strategy as a team to a constantly new landscape, each with specific properties. Players score points by defeating opponents with unique weapons.
Histera is now available via Steam. Two new 'eras' for the arenas will be added later this year, called 'Peak of the Five Winds' and 'Port Libertad'. Additional characters and weapons will also be added.
Update 5:31 PM: the article stated that StickyLock Games is located in Breda. The company is based in Etten-Leur. The article has been adjusted accordingly.
