Cooler Master will release fully passively cooled 850W power supply soon

Cooler Master officially introduces its X Silent Edge Platinum 850 power supply. It is a power supply with an 850W power that is completely passively cooled and therefore comes without a fan. The power supply will be delivered from the end of June. A 1100W variant will follow later.

According to Cooler Master, the X Silent Edge Platinum 850 is the first 850W power supply with fully passive cooling. The passive PSUs that are currently on the market have powers of up to 700W, as shown in the Pricewatch. There are already semi-passive 850W power supplies available. They do have a fan, although it is turned off at low loads.

The new power supply also receives an 80 Plus Platinum certification and support for the ATX 3.1 standard. The device therefore has a 12VHpwr connection for video cards, in addition to a total of six 8-pin connections for video cards and the CPU. The PSU has a fifteen-year warranty.

According to Cooler Master, the X Silent Edge Platinum 850 will be delivered from the end of June. The manufacturer mentions a price of 377.95 euros on its European website. It is not clear whether this is the final price or a temporary offer. In the US, the power supply officially costs $550, although it is offered for $400 during the pre-order period.

Cooler Master previously announced the X Silent Edge series. The 850W model will be released first. The manufacturer is also working on a 1100W variant, although it is not known when exactly it will come onto the market.
