Signify introduces Philips Hue Twilight wake-uplight for 280 euros

Signify introduces the Philips Hue Twilight. It will be the company's first sleep and wake-up lamp. The lamp should help users fall asleep and serve as an alarm clock that simulates a sunrise. The Twilight is immediately available for 280 euros.

The Philips Hue Twilight is designed to be placed on a bedside table and consists of two light sources. There is a regular nightlight on the front that can be turned left and right. There is an additional light source at the back of the Twilight. This serves as an accent light by casting a 'colorful glow' on the wall.

The device also has two customizable buttons to operate the lamp, although this can also be done via the Philips Hue app or a smart switch can. By default, one of the buttons is used to cycle through the six new light scenes, such as 'Arise' or 'Sleepy', the manufacturer reports. The other button activates a Sunset Go sleep automation as standard, which should simulate a sunset with red tones.

The lamp also supports an alarm function. This allows the lamp to wake users up by simulating a sunrise. This starts at a low brightness, down to 0.5 percent of the maximum, after which the light gradually becomes brighter. It is already possible to simulate a sunrise or sunset with existing Hue lamps via the accompanying app. However, the Twilight is specifically designed for this, the company claims.

The Twilight will be available in black and white. The lamp has a recommended retail price of 280 euros, Signify confirms in a press release. The manufacturer also comes with a cheaper RGB LED strip, which costs 70 to 160 euros depending on the length. A new ceiling lamp will appear later this year for 90 to 110 euros, depending on the size.
