The Social Democrats have started to make forced integration into a core issue.
Lawen Redar, who leads the party's working group against segregation, has been clear that the policy means that Swedes will be forcibly moved around to, for example, immigrant-dense schools.
Aftonbladet, however, does not believe that S goes far enough in this ambition. “S must dare to move the poor to Danderyd”, reads the headline of an editorial in the S-marked newspaper.
According to the writer Susanna Kierkegaard, it requires “an active policy so that more people from the vulnerable groups can settle in economically stronger areas”. More precisely by sending immigrants receiving benefits to rich areas.
“If the Social Democrats seriously want to combat segregation, they must dare to go further. Give priority to those who want to move from vulnerable to socio-economically strong areas. Offer those who go on support apartments on Lidingö or in Danderyd,” writes Susanna Kierkegaard.
