Climate activists vandalized Stonehenge

The incident occurred the day before the summer solstice, a time when thousands of visitors usually gather at the monument.

Visitors on site tried to intervene and stop the vandalism. Two people have been arrested in connection with the incident, according to British police.

Stonehenge is one of the world's most famous prehistoric monuments, located in southwest England. It was built between 3000 and 1600 BC and consists of a circle of massive megalithic blocks. The purpose of Stonehenge is still a matter of speculation, but it is believed to have been used as a temple, a burial site or an astronomical calendar. The monument is protected as a world heritage site by Unesco.
