During the performance in on Friday, wearing a yellow shirt and a blue blazer, Stewart dedicated the song “Rhythm of My Heart” to Ukraine and its military power.

He also took the opportunity to grossly insult Russian President Vladimir Putin, saluting a huge hero image of Volodymyr Zelenskyy that was projected on the screen behind the stage.

However, this became too much for the audience – who responded with boos and whistles.< /p>

On Sunday, Michael Roth, foreign policy spokesman for Chancellor Olaf Scholz, called Stewart “the hero of the day”.

“Thank you for your solidarity with the Ukrainian people!” writes Roth in English on Platform X.

He continues, in German:

“And his empathetic 'fans' who live in mental slavery to Putin should be ashamed. As long as they still have the ability to do it!”

War weariness in Germany has started to spread properly – while the establishment still wants to escalate the situation in Ukraine. It was felt in the elections to the European Parliament when pro-peace parties on both the right (Alternative for Germany) and the left (BSW) advanced strongly and together won 21 seats.

These parties caused a stir last week by boycotting Volodymyr Zelenskyi's speech in the German Bundestag. Something that made Sweden's Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) furious.
