Apple changes name Apple ID to Apple Account

Apple is changing the umbrella name for login credentials from Apple ID to Apple Account. According to the company, the new name should provide a more consistent login experience. There will be no further changes to the login details that users already have.

From the recent release of iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS Sequoia and watchOS 11, Apple calls the login details of users an Apple Account instead of of an Apple ID. Nevertheless, many support pages still contain the old name, MacRumors notes. User login details have been called 'Apple ID' since the beginning of this century.

Despite the name change, Apple, for example, uses the old name on its account management page. Source: Apple
