Alice Bah Kuhnke looks set to sit in the same party group as Ilaria Salis.
Fria Tider reported in February of last year how a group of international left-wing extremists had been on a tour of violence in the Hungarian capital Budapest and brutally assaulted people on the street whom they considered to be “fascists”.
Among other things, they attacked, armed with iron pipes and batons, a man in his 40s in the Gazdagrét district. According to the police, the activists mistakenly believed that the man, who was beaten very brutally, was a participant in a right-wing demonstration in the area.

One of the suspected perpetrators is Italian Ilaria Salis, 40, who has been detained for attempted murder in Hungary for the past 15 months. If convicted, she would have risked up to 20 years in prison.
But now she is released and can no longer be prosecuted for the crime – because she has been elected to the European Parliament and thus becomes immune, reports Euronews.< /p>
Ilaria Salis was elected as the representative of the left-wing party Alleanza Verdi e Sinistra, ACP, which is part of the same party group in the EU Parliament as the Green Party and its newly elected members Alice Bah Kuhnke, Isabella Lövin and Pär Holmgren.
– It is a miracle that we are alive, one of the victims of the left-wing extremists, László Dudog, told the Italian newspaper Il Giornale in February.
He and his fiancee were attacked and nearly killed with iron pipes and stabbings in Budapest. László Dudog does not know why, since according to him there was nothing about the couple's clothing that suggested they would be politically engaged either on the right or the left.
Left-wing extremists in Italy have previously complained that Ilaria Salis is deprived of her liberty , and footage showing her chained up in the courtroom caused outrage and was claimed to be “inhumane”. This despite the fact that the procedure is standard for serious criminals in Hungary. After Italian pressure, she was transferred to house arrest.
