Swedish EU baths that received the classification of excellent bathing water quality have increased slightly compared to 2022. A total of 346 EU baths are classified as excellent.

The classification is based on the municipalities' reporting of sampling results during the bathing seasons from 2020 to 2023.

– In recent years, we have seen that the number EU baths continue to increase. This is good because regular water samples are then taken. However, eighteen EU baths have been classified with poor bathing water quality. For these baths, the municipality needs to investigate sources of pollution and possible measures, says Ema Glad, investigator at HaV.

The number of EU baths with the classifications good and satisfactory has also increased ahead of the 2024 bathing season compared to 2023. The test results from the last four bathing seasons is the basis for this year's classification.
