Here, the Jewish principal drags away a student with a Palestinian flag

According to Sydsvenskan, principal Martin Roth stormed the stage and physically prevented a student from holding up a Palestinian flag.

The principal must have pressed his forearm against the student's chest or neck, torn the flag from the student's hands and pulled the student down from the stage stairs.

The incident was filmed and the video has been spread internationally by Palestine activists on social media.

Martin Roth is Jewish and has on several occasions told in the media what it is like to be a Jewish principal in Malmö and about his struggle against antisemitism.

He has explained that a flag ban has been introduced during the student walkout.

– We have 450 students who will walk out and it must feel safe. We don't want anyone to trip and get hurt, Roth told SVT Nyheter.

Due to Wednesday's incident, the management of Martin Roth's future employer, the independent school Bladins in Malmö, held a crisis meeting in the morning, according to a source to Sydsvenskan.

Malmö's “democracy municipal councilor” Amani Loubani (S) calls the video “shaking”.

– As someone who sees the video without knowing more about the content, these are shocking images with a violent content, she tells Sydsvenskan.
