The person in question died at the end of April and had then shown symptoms such as fever, breathing difficulties, diarrhea and nausea, but also other underlying illnesses.

It is unclear how the infection was transmitted as the person should not have had contact with chickens or other animals recently.

Earlier in the spring, bird flu of the H5N2 type reported among birds in Mexico, but the WHO has not been able to establish a direct link to the human case. According to WHO's assessment, the risk of spreading to humans is low.

At the same time, another variant of bird flu, H5N1, has spread among various mammals as well as wild and domesticated birds. In the USA, among other things, dairy cows on several farms have been affected, and a few people have been infected.

However, there are no confirmed cases where the disease has been transmitted from person to person.
