With a bang broke The Sweden Democrats this week broke the previous taboo of using the word “people exchange”.

After the go-ahead from Jimmie Åkesson – via a debate article in Expressen – the entire party has now adopted the term and uses it very extensively.

But according to the left, the idea of population exchange is a deadly “far-right conspiracy theory”. Expo founder Tobias Hübinette – today a left-wing racial researcher at Karlstad University – expresses this view today in a debate article in Dagens Nyheter.

Even the left-wing academic Christer Mattsson has raged against SD's use of the term, in a reply to Åkesson in Expressen. According to Mattson, the population exchange is a “conspiracy theory” as the idea is based on the fact that it was carried out by an illegitimate elite who acted contrary to the actual will of the people.

In a closing remark, however, Jimmie Åkesson now explains that he has no plans to to follow the advice of left-wing profiles.

“I will continue to call a spade a spade. Whether some obscure extremist group also uses the same word for spade, I don't care, it is completely irrelevant,” writes he.

About the discussion concerning the concept, the SD leader writes:

“The last few weeks have been completely bogged down by illegitimate claims, half-truths and outright lies. The discussion about population exchange as a conspiracy theory is just the last in line.”
