PostNL introduces anti-phishing code for emails

PostNL is introducing an anti-phishing code for email communications so that customers can check whether the email actually comes from the postal company or not. From the time of writing, customers can set an anti-phishing code themselves via their PostNL account.

From now on, this code will be shown in all e-mail correspondence with PostNL after activation. The code can be a word or a short sentence of up to twenty characters and must appear at the top of every legitimate PostNL email. The company warns that it may take 24 hours after activation before the code actually appears in emails.

According to PostNL, the implementation of the anti-phishing code is a measure against cybercrime. Showing the self-invented code should remove any doubt from customers about the authenticity of the email. The concept is not new; for example, several major crypto platforms already use this technology.
