Nvidia is showing a Project G-Assist tech demo during Computex 2024. It concerns an AI assistant that can answer questions about specific PC games and optimize the graphics settings of games. Nvidia does not say exactly when Project G-Assist will be available.
According to Nvidia, Project G-Assist is intended to help users play games. Users can ask questions to the AI assistant via text or speech. These questions are then fed to an AI model, after which the answer is given to the player via text-to-speech. According to Nvidia, the model can run locally on an RTX GPU or in the cloud.
Nvidia is showing Project G-Assist in the game Ark Survival Ascended, among others. According to the GPU maker, users can ask the chatbot questions that they would normally look up on the internet. For example, they can ask what the best 'early game weapon' is in a game. The AI assistant is also aware of context on the screen. For example, players can ask which enemy is on screen, how they can best spend their available skill points and how they can use crafting recipes.
In addition, according to Nvidia, the AI assistant can help optimize a system. For example, it can suggest the optimal graphics settings for a game based on the specifications of the PC. The bot can notice that the refresh rate of a screen is set too low. It can also automatically overclock an RTX GPU or reduce the power consumption of the system. Nvidia does not share details about whether and when Project G-Assist will be available.
