The case concerned payments that Donald Trump allegedly made to people who threatened to leak sensitive information before the 2016 election.

Michael Cohen, Trump's former lawyer, was the prosecution's main witness.

Trump faces up to four years in prison per count when the sentence is announced on July 11. Since there are 34 charges, the maximum sentence that the presidential candidate faces is 136 years in prison. However, it is considered unlikely that he will be sentenced to prison, he may also receive a suspended sentence and a fine of up to 5,000 dollars per charge.

With the sentence, Donald Trump becomes the first ex-president of the United States to be convicted of a crime .
