Last week it was reported that the Moderates invited The Sweden Democrats and the Social Democrats to form an alliance in the European Parliament. This is with the alleged aim of safeguarding Swedish interests.

From SD's side, the answer will be no, announce party leader Jimmie Åkesson and EU parliamentarian Charlie Weimers (SD) in a debate article in Aftonbladet.

< p>There are three reasons why a “Team Sweden” does not work, according to SD leaders:

“Firstly, Magdalena Andersson has declared that the Social Democrats would not negotiate with the Sweden Democrats 'even to save the country' Secondly, the Moderates and the Social Democrats must be willing to vote against their party groups, because their parliamentarians would then lose the valuable posts and resources to those loyal to the group line. Third, matters of national interest are decided not only in Parliament but also by EU governments in the Council.”

Moderate voters should ask why M would compromise with S “when they could instead get a Tidö agreement at the EU level,” according to Åkesson and Weimers.

“The Social Democrats have consistently voted for more migration and open borders, more regulations that produce lower growth, and for unreasonable climate goals. Just as consistently, they have voted against nuclear power, border barriers and a reduced EU budget. Why settle with them instead of negotiating with more like-minded parties?” they write.
